UH, DAN. IT'S YOUR PROBLEM, TOO

As gubernatorial candidate Tom Corbett's politically motivated indictments countinue to mount, many in Harrisburg still don't get it.

This is especially true for the House Democrats for two reasons.

First, DeWeese spent three entire days with the Attorney General's agents. (Tribune Review 12/12/09) You all know Bill. He is a deluded fool and a rank coward who would do anything to get out of trouble. Does anyone in the caucus really feel comfortable knowing DeWeese spent all that time alone with Corbett's investigators?

Secondly, DeWeese and his attorney Bill Chadwick misguidedly put in place a system where Democratic caucus staff were actively coached by their DeWeese provided attorneys (in concert with Corbett's investigators) to divert as far from DeWeese as possible any culpability. (What DeWeese, Chadwick and Corbett didn't count on was that caucus witnesses with their own lawyers wouldn't go along with this system, i.e. Sidella, Manzo.) But, we digress.

So, we find it par for the course that upon reading the news that Frank Dermody was elected the new Majority Whip (congrats to Frank, btw) some folks still maintain Corbett's investigation is someone else's problem.

Case in point is Democratic Representative Dan Frankel:
"Mr. Frankel said members want [Dermody]...to prevent the kind of alleged transgressions that led to the arrest of Mr. DeWeese and 14 others associated with the caucus. The scandal, which has become known as Bonusgate, involves allegations of using public resources to run political campaigns. 'Obviously, our leaders have had difficulties, whether that's Bonusgate or our ability to get things done legislatively,' Mr. Frankel said. 'There's an overwhelming reason to break with the past, and this [election of Mr. Dermody] is an expression of that,' he said." (Post-Gazette 12/18/09)
Uh, Dan. It's your problem, too.

Think about it...what did DeWeese tell Corbett about you? And, surely, you're aware that at least three Democratic staff have clearly and unequivocally implicated you in the very things DeWeese was indicted for this week.

If not, here is a quick reminder, you annoying hypocrite: Dan Frankel in Veon July pre-trial motion. Much of that is from 2007!

Those documents show you doing all this stuff from the past you vehemently want to "break from" now. Dan Wiedemer, Paul Martz and Jeb Wagner are all part of the Veon presentment and will likely be part of the Veon trial. They most certainly gave hours of grand jury testimony to Corbett...and clearly some of it was about you and conduct exactly like DeWeese's.

So, if you're so adamant about changing things in the House Democratic Caucus and breaking with the past, how about resigning yourself? You were a leader of this operation and if you're saying now you want to break from it, then get the heck out.

Or, you can just shut your hypocritical trap and hope that whatever Wiedemer, Wagner, Martz, Manzo and any other House Democratic staffer said in the grand jury won't come back to haunt you.

  2. DeWeese not only misused staff for political purposes, and everyone knew for improper personal purposes (to read a book having nothing to do with the legislature on to tape, so Bill could listen to it? To laminate God knows what. To wash his car and pick up the girlfriend du jour?), but how about his abuse of the caucus paid lawyers (certainly Chadwick, especially Cohen but Sloane too) for his own personal reasons not in the best interests of either the caucus or the commonwealth.

Now we understand DeWeese is on a crusade to pull Eachus down with him - which should be neither hard nor in fact even necessary given that he already got one of those invitations to the grand jury party.

  3. Really, almost everyone is ripe for indictment if the standard is doing political work on state time.

Questions for AG: Ask PJ LaValle if it isn't true that he continued to fundraise for McCall (right alkong with Paul Parsells) from the Capitol, meeting in McCalls office, and using state equpment. Ask PJ and Sidella about who else they raised funds for (many, many members) in the Capitol using state equipment. I'm just talking about their direct contacts with elected members - not just staff - that were obviously in the Capitol, and on state time.

And when does that Senate probe get going? Mike Long. Drew Crompton. Eric Arneson. Mark McKillop. Bob Kline. Hugh Baird. Be sure to look at contracts. Be sure to go to the research offices and also find out about graphic politcal work done at the Capitol for campaigns. Btw, have you looked at that in the House? Both caucuses?)

Nowadays you know this is false, DeWeese cannot pull anyone down, he cooperated with the OAG, and they still took him down to cover OAG mistakes made in the Ramaley Trials.

Once Veon is found acquitted, Corbett will Indict Eachus claiming Eachus took over for Stetler and did the same things, but it will really be about to cover the OAG mistakes made in the Veon Trial.

As each of OAG Presentments are rejected at trials based on sloppy OAG work product with liars before the Grand Jury, Corbett will respond with new indictments.

In the end, DeWeese, Eachus, and Veon will back in the legislature doing more reforms in 1 month than Corbett ever did his life.

AFTER ALL, ACCORDING TO TEAM CASA DEWEESE HAS BEEN THE SECRET SEALED IMMUNITY WITNESS FOR YEARS, BUT NOW IS INDICTED, OH WELL, LETS KEEP REPEATING IT UNTIL DOES NOT HAPPEN TO BE TRUE AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN.

  10. AG Tom Corbett was annoyed to find that his car wouldn't start much like his staffers.

He called a taxi, and soon one arrived at his house.

Climbing in, he told the driver to take him to the Halls of Justice.

"Where are they," asked the driver.

"You mean to say that you don't know where the Strawberry Square is?" asked the incredulous judge.

"Strawberry Square? Of course I know where that is." replied the driver.

  14. Wow, you guys have reached a new low...now you're smearing ANY legislator who dares speak badly of the former Veon/Cott axis...I would think that Team Casa would not "bait the hook".

Oh, and as an impartial observer, it seems quite clear that, by reading the presentments, the employees that performed the illegal tasks on behalf of their bosses would have been fired if they had not...maybe not an excuse to some, but certainly a reason.

  15. If I recall correctly, it wasn't DeWeese who turned in a voluminous and meticulously labeled court filing alleging knowledge of misdeeds by Frankel, Preston, DeWeese, Eachus, Stetler and others.
It was Mike Veon who did that, as part of a, "Everybody else did it, too" defense.
So who was trying to throw who under the bus? Veon opened this can of worms.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Since Veon's already told prosecutors everything he knew about everyone, which triggered the AG's second look at House Democrats, I wouldn't blame DeWeese if he felt like doing the same.
Clearly, DeWeese never had an immunity agreement, although you have tried to tattoo him with that for months.
I do not think DeWeese is trying to take down Eachus. But it would be sweet irony if his cooperation
helped pay back Mike "I'll Do Anything To Save My Own Butt" Veon.

  19. The Days Of Habay, Where It Was All Planned:

During his tenure, Habay became known for his "exuberance and willingness to work with both parties" as well as "natural skill" as a campaigner.

He was named Deputy Whip in the Republican caucus, a largely ceremonial position, with the expectation that he would continue to rise through the leadership ranks.

However, he frequently clashed with his party leaders over spending issues, eventually becoming known as a "one-issue candidate."

Specifically, he made some political enemies by fighting a plan for taxpayer-funded professional sports stadiums in Pittsburgh.

In 2001, Habay was passed over by the Republican committee to be the party's nominee for a special election for the 40th senatorial district, which was vacated after Melissa Hart was elected to Congress.

Habay placed third in the committee vote, with five votes to 14 for Mike Turzai and 46 for Jane Orie.

Habay believed the process to be "Stacked against him" and publicly called for the resignation of the Allegheny County Republican Chairman, Richard Stampahar, whom Habay accused of improperly influencing the vote.

On September 17, 2004, Habay was charged by the Pennsylvania Attorney General with theft of services and conflict of interest for allegedly using his state-paid workers to conduct campaign work for him on state time.

The charges were filed as the result of an investigation spurred the Ethics Commission probe into Habay's actions.

The trial began 10 months later on October 7, 2005, with the testimony from several of Habay's former staffers describing their political work done during state time.

According to Tony Krastek, the prosecutor from the Attorney General's office, the volume of such work and the fact that Habay took steps to keep it secret turned what would have been an administrative issue into a crime.

Under cross examination Radich said that she had done so under direction from Habay, an statement that Habay attorney John Elash likened to the Nuremberg Defense, made famous by "soldiers under the Third Reich."

Psychologists will tell you those that judge others the toughest or proceed with a system before a Grand jury are keeping secrets about themselves, and the harder the judgments the higher the secrets.

Fumo's gaming legislation was noteworthy in that it allowed convicted felons to hold a casino license. Enlarge design, no?

And wouldn't you know it, one of the prized casino licenses did go to a convicted felon Louis DeNaples, a redeveloper of Brownfield’s associated with waste management Inc. who later gave up his right to run the Mt. Airy Resort & Casinos in the Poconos to his relatives. DeNaples gave Campaign Donations to Political leadership and especially to AG Corbett.

I never realized Veon was so dangerous to the Pennsylvania political and business establishment.

Well that is the real question, isn't it? Why?

The how and the who is just scenery for the press and public. Perzel, Fumo, Veon, Ramaley, LaGrotta, Stetler, DeWeese, as other escape such as Smith, Jubelirer, Brightbill, and LaValle.

Keeps all the remainder of the legislators guessing like some kind of parlor game, prevents them from asking the most important question, and preventing any more investigations that can uncover this silent coup.

    Why?

Why were these legislators charged, changed, and defeated.

Who benefited from their designed demise?

Who rose to replace them, and Who has the power to cover it up?

    Who?

You missed the point, Hitler and his Gang ddid not start out in power then led to crimes.

They Hitler gang started by the intimidation of other lawmakers that stood up to stop him, before he had the power.

Hitler used lies, intimidtion, bully tactics, and threats to others.

Krastek did the same thing with grand jurors. it will come out!

This will stop Corbett and Corbett will not get away building his own Campaigns on lies knows were given in the Grand Jury, and later put in the Presentments.

  26. The dangerous idea that the democratic accountability of national governments should simply be dispensed with in favour of "global agreements" reached after closed negotiations between world leaders never, so far as I recall, entered into the arena of public discussion.

Except in the United States, where it became a very contentious talking point, the US still holding firmly to the 18th-century idea that power should lie with the will of the people.

When Prosecutors use lies before the Grand Jury, there is a bigger agenda here.
