THE GREATEST DANGER OF ABUSE....
"If the prosecutor is obliged to choose his cases, it follows that he can choose his defendants. Therein is the most dangerous power of the prosecutor: that he will pick people that he thinks he should get, rather than pick cases that need to be prosecuted. With the law books filled with a great assortment of crimes, a prosecutor stands a fair chance of finding at least a technical violation of some act on the part of almost anyone. In such a case, it is not a question of discovering the commission of a crime and then looking for the man who has committed it, it is a question of picking the man and then searching the law books, or putting investigators to work, to pin some offense on him. It is in this realm—in which the prosecutor picks some person whom he dislikes or desires to embarrass, or selects some group of unpopular persons and then looks for an offense, that the greatest danger of abuse of prosecuting power lies."
-- Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson.
Thanks to Tom Corbett's ineptness I got a dynamite recipe for sharon's peach kolache from a Texan who realizes how Pennsylvania's attorney general has abused his office.
ReplyDeleteThanks to Tom Corbett's ineptness I got a dynamite recipe for sharon's peach kolache from a Texan who realizes how Pennsylvania's attorney general has abused his office.
ReplyDeleteTeam Casa and other victims of Corbettgate Conflicts need Attorneys and Judges to file against Corbett and his Prosecutors the violations against Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board.
ReplyDeleteGood men and women must stand up now!
Governor Rendell must appoint a Special Prosecutor to investigate the OAG.
The Kimment Case alone has sound facts that were given in Depositions under Oath.
Attorneys and their clients were abused in OAG Grand Jury Hearings against the Rules Of Professional conduct for Attorneys and Prosecutors in Pennsylvania.
Mike Long and Brian Nutt were both involved in alleged bonuses and Campaigning On State Time.
Finally, Stetler motions alone outline how Tom Corbett has violated the same laws he brought charges against others on, and he must be removed as Attorney General.
Whenever they's a fight to post freedom, we all must there!
ReplyDeleteWhenever they's a Attorney General carefully selecting whomever he wants to indict, We all must be there!
We must be in the way gals and guys yell when they're mad an'- and they should be very mad now that Corbettgate Conflicts have been exposed.
We All Must Be There!
Free Brett Cott!
There have been calls for him to resign as AG while running for Governor due to conflicts of interest.
ReplyDeleteMost of the charges he has brought under BonusGate have been rejected by juries and the public sees this as a political prosecution designed to elect him Governor.
Corbett's huge mistake was investigating and charging Democrats while allowing Republicans guilty of the same deeds two years to destroy evidence.
There's no way he can adequately explain that to voters.
He must resign now because this week's actions show a serious lack of judgment, a willingness to trample people's rights for political gain, and a complete lack of ethics and morals.
Tom Corbett must resign or at least begin an investigation on him, that will expose his own complicity in doing waht he is charging others with by campiagning on state time.
Bloggers are first in the fight when the cause is right. Let's stand up now to Free Brett Cott and put a halt to political abuse and oppression from our elected officials.
ReplyDeleteAbuse comes in many forms, let's show the world that
pennsylvania will not be held by terrorist public officials.
Where can I send money to help in the fight?
FIRST IN THE FIGHT...the cause is right!!!
Down with Tom Corbett's hypocrisy!
ReplyDeletePreserve Freedom of Speech as guaranteed by the First Amendment.
Stand up for America.
Stand up for Pennsylvania.
Stand up for your rights.
Wake up and join the fight!
ReplyDeleteIf we all don't go there, we won't be here.
Bloggers of the universe unite.
ReplyDeleteIf not You, then Who?
Don't wait until it's too Late!
Join the fight Now!
Once we lose Free Speech it will be
too late!
Hey, Tom Corbett, ABUSE by any othe name is still abuse.
ReplyDeleteWhat part of Free Speech doesn't TOM CORBETT understand?
ReplyDeleteConflict of interest? Tom Corbett should resign because he is not qualified. Look at his track record, it's apparent.
ReplyDeleteAnd he wants us to elect him Governor.
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice,
i don't think so. This is one
Republican vote Tom Corbett will never get again.
Hey Rendell -- do the right thing and pardon Brett Cott. Your party leadership is letting a working stiff go to jail for the system you created.
ReplyDeleteTeam Casa needs to set up a place where we all can send donations to a Legal Defense Fund for Cott, Rosepink and Veon, to share in to overturn, appeal, and be given a pardon.
ReplyDeleteSomeplace maybe through one their Attorneys!
One Dollars from many Twitters with a Public Internet Accounting or CPA Firm could raise Millions.
The quote is from Supreme Court Justice Jackson. He also was the lead prosecutor in the Nuremberg Trails against the Nazis.
ReplyDelete- Someone else who might be Casablanca or barbie (Tom, you'll never know)
FREE BRETT COTT!!!!
ReplyDeleteCORBETT MUST BE INDICTED NOW!!!
What I want to know is....Is there ANY INVESTIGATIVE REPORTERS in this state that actually DO INVESTIGATIVE reporting?
ReplyDeleteAll reporters need to watch the movie BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT!!! Kind of strange how the movie is very simular to Bonusgate...Hmmmm
Robert Jackson prosecuted Nazi war criminals on behalf of the United States at the Nuremburg trials. As a student of World War II, I don't recall him ever saying, "This is a politically motivated prosecution," or "Set free these handpicked scapegoats!"
ReplyDeleteI'd bet they're asleep all over America.
ReplyDeleteNOW ONE CAN SEE WHAT TOM CORBETT IS DOING TO GOVERNMENT SERVICES FOR THE PEOPLE.
ReplyDeleteWhen Corbett becomes Governor he will not be able to operate effectively due to his own inability to properly interpret the Law.
This will all come back on him.
Legislators lose fast lane to PennDOT services
By Mike Wereschagin
PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Thursday, May 27, 2010
Lawmakers are grumbling about PennDOT's decision Wednesday to close a back channel that allowed them to push through driver's license applications and vehicle registrations for constituents.
The service is a "patently nonlegislative function," according to a grand jury report on the General Assembly released this week. But many lawmakers perform the voter-pleasing deed anyway.
So many people use legislators as PennDOT liaisons that the transportation department paid 35 workers just to deal with the Legislature's requests.
"For constituents who have delayed in updating their vehicle registration, are dealing with a vehicle issue that requires unfamiliar paperwork to be filed, or who simply do not want to wait in line at PennDOT, a trip to their state representative often will serve as a substitute," the jury wrote.
Gov. Ed Rendell instructed the agency Tuesday to reassign the employees. PennDOT spokesman Richard Kirkpatrick said the department was deciding where to put them.
Last year, PennDOT handled 246,000 requests from the General Assembly, House Republican spokesman Steve Miskin said.
"Those are real issues or problems that people had. Do you think they're just going to disappear? Is the Legislature supposed to tell that person in Beaver County or Wyoming County, 'Sorry, you have to go to Harrisburg yourself?'" Miskin said.
"You're saying the legislator, the vocal representative for that community, can't help their constituents out? That is their job. That is what they're supposed to do."
Legislative staff members who continue handling constituents' PennDOT problems "are being directed to the normal channels -- Internet, existing counter service at the Riverfront Office Center, among others," Kirkpatrick said.
The Capitol phone book lists 10 "PennDOT Specialists" in the House Democratic Support Services division. They work under the PennDOT supervisor and two assistant PennDOT supervisors.
Democrats were reviewing what to do with them yesterday, said Bill Thomas, deputy communications director for the caucus.
Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi's office employs three for "PennDOT Services," and Majority Caucus Secretary Bob Robbins has one PennDOT Specialist, according to the phone book.
"If the executive branch was designed and operated in a way that citizens did not run into that red tape and bureaucracy, they wouldn't call our office," said Pileggi, R-Delaware County. "We don't go looking for them. But once they call, it's our obligation to help them."
