"CHECKING THE BALANCE" GIVES CORBETT A MATH LESSON

The folks at "Checking the Balance" do some ciphering with the figures in the Tribune Review's latest report on the astronomical legal bills the legislative caucuses have run up in their efforts to appease partisan Republican Attorney General Tom Corbett.

It doesn't take a slide rule to figure out that Corbett's botched investigation has not only let the Republicans off the hook, but has allowed them to do it by having the taxpayers pick up the legal tab.

It's interesting to read both "Checking the Balance" and the "Tribune Review" article. However, both chapters seem to circumvent the unknown, yet very obvious query.

And the building blocks of this "soap opera" type manuever, generated by the State Attorney General, continue to rise with each passing day.

What has this particular operation cost the taxpayers that fund the Attorney General's office?

The media has clearly pointed out a specific charge to the four Caucuses.

Yet, the cost to Corbett's office was never mentioned. Did any of these reporters ever initiate an investigation to that end?

It was the media that drove open records. Now that the bill was passed, they only investigate half the story.

It should be clear that the Office Of The Pennsylvania Attorney General has at least, without even looking, spent multiples more investigating.

The recovery/rehabilitation would be nominal.

As I have said, the only making money from politics is Lawyers and the News Media. What is worse each Defendant has his own Lawyer. The Defendants should ban together and tell their Lawyers what to do, by banning them together and working on parts of each charge.

The time has come to follow that money too. Did Lawyers contribute to Attorney General’s Corbett Campaign or their Law Firms? If they did, what a sad way to be use reimbursement on the backs on the Defendants that are being put into Bankruptcy.

There is a better way, hold Hearings, get to the bottom, and grant immunity to those that give back the Bonuses and expunged Criminal Records afterwards.

If not, this is going to cost far more than any clean up in Harrisburg.

Hey why do you folks keep picking on poor old Tommy C? I mean, really, after the week he had, he derserves a break...

First, he sent out a campaign mailpiece, falsely implying he's endorsed by the RNC, which was a lie.

Then he pulls the "I'm taking my ball and leaving Westmoreland County to fend for themselves". And for his childish attitude, received a rebuke from the Westmoreland Bar.

To top it all off, the right-wing Trib runs a story where a highly respected attorney criticizes Corbett's decision to file a lawsuit in Allegheny County. Corbett's latest victim dared to challenge National City bank, who coincidentally has contributed at least $5,000 in the last five years to AG Corbett. Again, just a coincidence, I am sure.

Finally, the investigation into bonuses has cost us taxpayers more than twice the amount of the bonuses themselves, let alone the unknown amount the AGs office has spent on this wild, but unending goose chase...anyone think just getting the recipients and those distributing the bonuses to repay the money was a better deal yet?

Interesting stuff but has the media or anyone else asked Crime Fighting Attorney General Corbett about his recent decision to NOT PROSECUTE child predators in Westmoreland County merely because he didn't like a decision that the Judge made?

What, does he want to be the Prosecutor, the Judge and the Jury now?

I guess the residents of Westmoreland County should be getting a state tax refund or partial state tax credit because of Attorney General Corbett's failure to provide full taxpayer prosecutorial services to Westmoreland County residents.

I guess serious crimes like bonus gate, running for Governor, and other political investigations take priority over child predators.

Thank goodness that Westmoreland County District Attorney John Peck will continue to protect the citizens of Westmoreland from child predators even if Attorney General Corbett won't.

Dating back to McCarthyism, only Republicans prosecute Democrats, they call it a Red Bleeding out the Pinko's they claim that want socialism.

Then they turn on their own like Attorney Roy Cohn, which did their bidding, until they were tired of him, then they call it justice, today it is a media show.
