REALLY, TRIBUNE-REVIEW?

Look, guys. It's obvious you're backing Tom Corbett for Governor. And it's only natural you'd want to defend your boy.

But today's ludicrous rationalization for his refusal to resign is really beyond the pale.

As informed Pennsylvanians are well aware, when a governor appoints a replacement for a departing elected official, he always appoints a replacement of the same party who agrees not to run in the next election. Besides, there's not a chance in hell the Republican-controlled Senate would confirm a Democrat if he even tried.

So, no, Tribune-Review. Tom Corbett isn't afraid to resign because scary Ed Rendell might appoint a Democratic successor. In fact, Corbett's been pretty friendly to Rendell's administration, inexplicably allowing one cabinet secretary to ignore a subpoena and looking the other way on another cabinet member who reportedly threatened a witness.

Corbett won't resign because he can't give up the spotlight. It's a risk, because if the Bonusgate prosecutions crash and burn, he won't be able to shift the blame (although he'll probably try).

Way to go, dumb-dumbs. But nothing is ever REALLY gone from the internet. Idiots.

Unlike the Office of Attorney General, we correct our mistakes around here. We don't run for Governor on them.

Always be sure you are right, then go ahead!

Great Leaders have suffered by self to be politically sacrificed to save the country or commonwealth from ruin and disgrace and if they never gain election I will have the gratification to know that I have done my duty.

The party in power, like Jonah's gourd, grew up quickly, and will quickly fall.

You may all go to Hell, and I will go to Harrisburg.

Interestingly, the e-mails this blog has published, which were turned over by the AG as part of discovery, make it abundantly clear that others involved and who could have been charged include several sitting House Dems certainly including DeWeese, the current Chief of Staff to the Gov., and at least two current cabinet officials, both appointed by the Governor after the bonusgate and both of whom come from the House Dem caucus, as well as former Rendell office officials and at least one Dep. Secretary, as well as dozens of current House Dem staffers (who DeWeese, McCall and Eachus currently employ).

Do you mean on this site, or the millions of taxpayer dollars in bonuses you handed out for campaign work?...just curious.

anonymous,
i suppose you'd rather have your tax money go towards hundreds of attorneys and a bunch of half-witted keystone cops who couldn't investigate their way out of a wet paper bag... get real. we all know that if this was a REAL investigation, every single member of the house, senate, adminstration and most department heads would be indicted... its a joke. Corbett prosecuted a couple people and is holding them responsible for something that has been going on since the 70's and before... and if you believe in him, then you are either related to him or you drank the kool-aid too. moron.
I don't see you crying about all of the people are are still working for the house, who have admitted guilt and yet are still collecting very lucrative salaries, pensions and hold some of the highest positions in the building... what? No answer to that? That's what i thought... you are probably one of them.

First, nice spell-check…second, if you’re talking about employees that were coerced, under implied termination or demotion, to do the campaign work, then I guess I’m not bothered that they still have jobs.

Another example of how your standards shift with the wind. How many times have you lauded the Trib for writing something that you agreed with? I'm guessing dozens.
But when they write something you disagree with, they suddenly find themselves on your shit list.
It's called a "free-floating standard."

Nice spell check??? That's all you got??? Then i guess you are a moron too...
spell check that... i don't see you having a problem with all of the so-called wittnesses who have been coerced under implied termination or demotion by DeWeese and Tom Corbett... when the AG investigators have to throw things at wittnesses to get them to say what they want, THAT is being coerced... EVERY person in that capitol who has been "given" a tax-payer funded attorney (to the tune of $15 million) has been threatened both personally and professionally... it will all come out... then you can hide behind your anonymous shell... coward. You already know who i am and as soon as you are willing to come out, so will i... in person, anytime... I won't hold my breath though.

Calm down, Frank. Why did you turn off your comments? You guys starting to realize your stories don't hold water?

Wow…a little upset are we?

So, let me get this straight…millions of taxpayer dollars are handed out for political work, but that’s OK…some employees NEVER EVEN PERFORMED legislative duties, but that’s OK…some employees were made to fetch food for Reps – way after work hours – after their basketball games, but that’s OK…some employees were sent to fetch motorcycles across the country, but that’s OK…”ghost” offices were set up for no legitimate reason, but that’s OK…employees were promoted or demoted based on their willingness to volunteer, not based on actual work product, but that’s OK…can’t you see that you’re trying to defend the indefensible?... truth is, I don’t know who you are – nor do I care, so simmer down…save the challenges for Braveheart, tough guy.

Oh, and BTW, “wittnesses” only has one “t”, Einstein…nice spell check.

i like how you Corbett people keep trying to change the subject... anonymous never tried to defend any of those things, never even mentioned them, never said any of that stuff was okay... but if Corbett's case is so legitimate, why did they have to intimidate people to get them to say what they wanted? Why has it cost over $15 million to investigate just $3 million in monies from just one caucus?
Corbett has people on his staff, that go back and forth between campaign and state payroll too and regardless if they "do it the right way" or not, it still affects their state-funded salaries when it comes time to raises, promotions, years of service, retirement, etc... Why were there hundreds and hundreds of phone calls from his campaign staff on campaign phones to the OAG? Regardless of who paid for the phones, those two entities shouldn't be communicating at ALL if they truly are seperate like Corbett claims... Fact is, he's a hypocrite and its funny how YOU keep trying to defend HIM.
